In 1980, when a district youth
association planted lilies in order to make the ski area in Nishiyama
available during summer, they started “Iide Lily
Festival”. In June 2003, the park was renewed and reopened
with 150 species, 500,000 lilies in an area of 7 hectares.
The reason why this park was named
'Donden-daira' is that it sounds like “don-den” when you fell down
while skiing.

Park
While they were considering opening the
lily
park year-round, they decided to make use of snowmobiles in winter for
the visitors' entertainment. Now, the Town Tourism
Association sponsors it and opens every Saturday, Sunday, and holidays
from January to March. A large number of foreigners visit
here.
